PURPOSE:A hypotensive ointment exhibiting a prolonged hypotensive action by endermic absorption, comprising a substrate and a pressure-sensitive polymer layer containing clonidine attached closely to the substrate. CONSTITUTION:A pressure-sensitive polymer layer containing clonidine is formed on a substrate, e.g., a flexible film, sheet such as polyethylene, polypropylene, etc. or paper, cloth, etc., to give an ointment. A vinyl monomer-acrylic type copolymer, silicone type copolymer, etc. may be cited as the polymer layer. The prepared ointment is capable of medicating endermically at a constant rate clonidine effective for remedying essential hypertension, and keeping its effective concentration in the blood for a long time.
