PURPOSE:To exterminate fall webworms, economically without adverse effects to man, cattle and other organisms, especially silkworm, by the combined use of a specific virus and an insecticidal substance produced by Bacillus sotto. CONSTITUTION:Virus of cytoplasmic polyhedrosis of fall webworm is combined with an insecticidal substance produced by Bacillus sotto which is a pathogenic bacterium for insects. The composition exhibits synergistic effect and exterminates fall webworms at a low dose. The insecticidal substance is produced by culturing Bacillus sotto, and extracted from the cells of the bacteria, or separated from the cells after killing the bacteria. There is completely no adverse effect to sericulture in contrast with the method using the living bacterial cells. The agent can be produced in a large quantity.
