APPARATUS FOR IMPROVING STARTING PROPERTY AND WARMING- UP OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE:To improve low-temperature starting property of an alcohol engine, by forming a heating chamber in an intake passage of the engine. CONSTITUTION:A series of by-pass passages 6 having a diameter smaller than that of an intake pipe 2 are formed in the body 1 of a carburettor and a heating barrel H. The by-pass passages 6 are arranged to by-pass a throttle valve 5, and one end of the by-pass passages 6 is opened in the intake pipe 2 while the other end is opened in a hollow space of the heating barrel H. The intermediate portion of the by-pass passages 6 is constituted by a conduit 6m extended between the body 1 of the carburettor and the heating barrel H. In the by-pass passages 6, there are provided a fuel nozzle 8 and a piston type control valve 9. Further, a heating chamber 11 and an annular chamber 13 are formed in the heating barrel H. In starting an engine under a low temperature, a heater 15 is at first heated and the control valve 9 is pulled upward to open the by-pass passages 6 and fuel nozzle 8, with the throttle valve 5 being kept in its closed position. Thus, air-fuel mixture is supplied to combustion chambers after being heated in the heating chamber 11.
