PURPOSE:To facilitate placing of an upper circumferential cylindrical ring on a lower circumferential cylindrical ring and to shorten the time for construction of cylindrical structures by projecting and fitting a backing strip ring from and to the top end of the circumferential cylindrical ring, and providing a sloped guide and spacers at a right angle to the inside circumferential surface to the projecting top end. CONSTITUTION:A backing strip ring 1 is fitted to the top end of a circumferential cylindrical ring A in such a way that the upper part thereof projects therefrom. Next, a guide 2 sloped in a diagonal direction and spacers 3 projecting at a right angle to the inside circumferential surface of the ring 1 and having holes 30 for driving of wedges are fixed to the top edge of the ring 1. Next, an upper circumferential cylindrical ring B is lifted and is dropped and placed onto the lower ring A. Thence, the ring A and the ring B are lapped together by driving wedges into the holes 30 of the spacers 3. The surfaces of the butt parts of the rings A, B on the side opposite from the ring 1 are welded. At this time, the welding is accomplished while the spacers 3 are held removed.
