PRODUCTION OF STRONG AND TOUGH COMPOSITE ROLL

摘要

PURPOSE:To produce a composite roll having a tough and storng inside shell easily and economically by casting molten metal of a strong and tough material of large solidification shrinkage within an outside shell of a desired material into one body, and forming an upper neck part thereon by casting. CONSTITUTION:A strong and tough steel material such as graphite steel or cast steel material is cast into an outside shell 1 of a barrel part consisting of a desired material and is melt stuck to one body, whereby an inside shell 2 is formed and a composite roll is cast. An upper neck part of the cast composite roll which has shrinkage cavities 3 internally and is cast to a rough shpae is cast after the riser part 5 thereof is cut, whereby an upper neck 4' provided with sound working structure and formed to a desired outside shape is formed.
