Aq. liq. propellant contg. di:methyl ether - esp. for application of water-based paint

A liq. compsn. acting as propellant, suitable for the appln. of an active component onto a substrate by spraying from a pressurised container, consists of a single-phase contg. per 100 wt.%, (a) 20-75 wt.% of a propellant comprising dimethyl ether and 0-50 wt.%, w.r.t. the dimethyl ether, of another liq. propellant (b) 10-50 wt.% of water, and (c) 0.1-45 wt.% of at least one water-sol. polar organic solvent. The pressure in the aerosol container is 2.1-5.95 (2.8-4.2) kg/ square cm at 20 deg.C. (a) Dimethyl ether pref. forms 25-40 (40) wt.% of the propellant. A gaseous propellant, e.g. N2 or CO2, may be used to increase the effect of the dimethyl ether. (b) The amt. is esp. 20-35 (30) wt.%. (c) 1-6C Monohydric alcohols, esp. ethanol or propanol, are pref. included. The amt. is 1-30 (5-20), esp. 15 wt.%. Use for application of an aq. aerosol paint is claimed. Other substances, e.g. deodorants and cosmetics, can be applied by the same propellant. Water-based paints can be applied. The compsn. is not inflammable.
