Cooled mould, esp. for continuous casting of round billets - where cooling water is sprayed onto external surface of ring mould and then flows down cast billet

The mould is formed by a ring which rests by its collar on a hollow ring contg. a vertical wall which divides the interior of ring into an outer and an inner chamber for a liq. coolant, e.g. water. The wall has holes via which water flows into the inner chamber, and then through a ring slot onto the outside wall of the ring. The collar is pref. located in a recess on the top edge of chamber so the ring slot is aligned with the curved profile on wall. The object of the invention is to provide uniform cooling of the cast billet on its entire periphery.
