MULTI-SECTION APPARATUS FOR IMPROVING SIGNALTRANSMISSION THROUGH TELEPHONE TRANSMISSION LINESABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREAn apparatus for providing simultaneously a multiplicityof independent non-interactive effects on the transmissioncharacteristics of a voice-frequency telephone transmissionline. Output voltage and current signal processing circuitryis provided which generates voltages for insertion in serieswith the line and currents for insertion in shunt with theline. Input voltage and current signal processing circuitryis also provided to sense the signal voltage across and thesignal current through the transmission line and to generatea multiplicity of voltages and currents which are functionsof the signal voltage and the signal current as well as ofthe voltages and currents fed back from the output signalprocessing circuitry to the input signal processing circuitry.A multiplicity of line conditioning control units couple theinput signal processing circuitry to the output signal process-ing circuitry. Each line conditioning control unit is adaptedto affect the transmission characteristics of the line withoutinterferring with the effects simultaneously provided by theother line conditioning control units.
