The present invention relates to a method for detaching and removing a thin layer of material adhering to a wall, a filter or a membrane. The method of the invention consists, in succession: - in forming on the wall (4), before the adhesion of the material, multiple deformations by the suction of an elastic membrane (5) over a mesh (8) fixed to the wall (4), by means of a vacuum source (10) - in eliminating, when the adhering layer is brittle, the abovementioned deformations by re-establishing the pressure in the enclosure (7) by means of the open-air connection (11) - in producing localised impacts on the said surface (5) in order to fragment the adhering layer.
