The compounds correspond to the formula: IMAGE in which R represents a C4-C20 acyl radical and the boxed symbol Co represents the group alpha -(5,6-dimethylbenzimidazolyl) cobamide; R preferably represents a C14-C18 acyl radical. Compounds I are especially alpha -[ alpha -(5,6-dimethylbenzimidazolyl)]- beta -(N-palmitoyladenosyl) cobamide, alpha -[ alpha -(5,6-dimethylbenzimidazolyl)]- beta -(N-myristoyladenosyl) cobamide and alpha -[ alpha -(5,6-dimethylbenzimidazolyl)]- beta -(N-stearoyladenosyl) cobamide. They may be prepared from the dibencozide of formula I, with R=H, by the action of a functional derivative of an acid R-OH, protected from light and in the presence of an alkaline agent. The compounds of formula I have especially protein-anabolising and analgesic effects, like dibencozide; on the other hand, they have the advantage of ensuring high and stable blood levels.
