The safety visor used by welding gear operator, consists of two sections, each having parallel evenly spaced strips which are opaque to ultra-violet rays. As one section is moved across the other by the width of one strip, complete screening to ultra-violet rays is effected. Each of the two sections (2,4) have strips (3,5) of material which filters ultra-violet rays, applied to them. If one section (2) is moved vertically w.r.t the horizontal strips (3,5) or horizontally if the strips are vertical, an effective shield results.
