The oil burner comprises atomising equipment at one end of a combustion chamber, provided with an oil supply and connected to an air duct. The atomiser embodies a distributing device which feeds a thin film of oil onto a knife-edge surface (4) tapering to a point in cross-section, so arranged in the air duct (1,2) that the air flows along it on both sides. The device may be capillary tubes (5) or a slit-nozzle with a slit 10 mm or more long, about 0.1 mm high, terminating on the knife-edge, or a porous body mounted on it.
