The monitoring system measures the electrical resistance between the surface of the concrete roof (or road) and the metal reinforcement (7) inside the roof's concrete due to water seepage through fractures. A contact assembly (12) is placed on the surface of the roof. If a leak is found, it is sealed with permanently-elastic plastic or closed by a hot-sealing process or any other suitable method. The system can be used for large areas -- the contact assembly is moved around -- and for reinforced concrete structures of all kinds.
