Vehicle navigation device accurate enough for motorised artillery - generates landmark position coordinates from known landmark positions and distance and course angle corrections

A vehicle navigation device contains a course-position reference unit working in earth fixed coordinates, a distance or speed transducer, and a computer. It produces the position coordinates of selected landmarks, whose positions w.r.t. known landmarks are not previously accurately known, with sufficient accuracy for artillery purposes or similar. It contains a position coordinate memory into which are placed the position coordinate signals of such a point. These coordinates are corrected using a distance adjustment factor, incremental distances between successive points, and their deviations from the known landmark positions. Formulae are given involving these factors.
