Vehicle designed to reduce accident - by having side lights which illuminate road in front of oncoming vehicle

The vehicle has dipped headlights and also an extra side light. The side light is on and off-side of the vehicle and illuminates that part of the road along which oncoming traffic is travelling. The extra side light is located at about the level of the vehicle's door and is inset into its bodywork The extra side light is switched on when the vehicle headlights are dipped on the approach of an oncoming vehicle. The side light thereby illuminates for the oncoming driver any obstacle, pedestrian or cyclist immediately in the path of that oncoming driver.
