The authors designed software to perform numerical simulation analysis of the frontal light distribution and of glare perceived by oncoming drivers from a vehicle equipped with an Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS). Using this software, the effectiveness of AFS was ascertained by analyzing lighting conditions in the direction of travel and glare perceived by oncoming drivers from AFS-equipped vehicles traveling on straight and curved roads.
