The valve for a central heating system with electric control has an expansion body which can be electrically heated and reacts to heat. The change of shape of the body on heating or cooling actuates the shifting of the valve, completely or partly, in response to the electric heating operation. It controls the volumetric flow in the system radiators and thus the room temperature. On, in, or in the close vicinity of the expansion body is mounted a small electric heater. The switching of the latter changes the shape of the expansion body and thus the operating point of the control valve. According to the design mode, the heating of the expansion body can actuate opening or closing of the valve. This design provides a simple and robust electrically controlled valve.
