The valve is set to a required temp., above which the flow to the valve is gradually restricted and below which the flow is gradually increased. The flow setting element (SG) between the thermostat (BMR) and the radiator valve (HKV) is coupled to an electronic programmed switching network (SN) including a timer (U) for ON-OFF switching of the radiator valve (HKV) at specific times of day, the setting element (SG), the timer (U) and the switching network (SN) supplied from a common battery. Pref. a mechanical setting element (SG) adjusted via a setting motor (M) is used the motor rotated in respective directions for switching the radiator valve ON or OFF when the corresp. commands are received from the timer (U). The motor (M) pref. has a manual override. The valve can be switched ON and OFF without affecting the thermostat function to provide increased flexibility.
