An actuator device for a three-way valve used with central heating systems to control the flow of water through an inlet which by-passes the boiler has a temperature sensing device in the outlet to supply an electric current, which increases with increasing temperature, to the coil of a thermal element which controls the movement of the valve head. When the valve control handwheel is in one particular position, a notch in the skirt allows the ball to move upwards off the spring leaf of a switch so that the switch is closed and the electrical control operates. Rotating the handwheel opens the switch and cuts out the electrical control.
