A measurement probe sp. for temp. measurement has a measurement probe arm able to be extended by a variable length from the measurement probe housing. The arm (26) carries a probe head (28) on the free end. A measurement conductor moves along the arm to a connection (40) on the housing (22) for its display (34). The head can be positioned discretely without degrading the compactness of the construction of the arrangement or losing the advantages of electronic measurement. The measurement arm is of spring steel or similar and can be extended to its full length from a fully withdrawn into a holder (24). The measurement cable is joined to the arm approximately along its full length. Alternatively, the measurement probe arm may be in the form of a measurement conductor.
