The invention relates to a method for testing the bending stress on elastic materials, the point being that the test is carried out at a stress which is precisely defined kinematically and remains unchanged over the entire duration of the test and is thus defined. This is carried out in such a way that, with a strip-shaped specimen of material clamped in the form of a U, the legs execute a continuous, essentially parallel motion relative to one another, the specimens undergoing a rolling bending stress at a defined bending radius, and that the stroke is limited to approximately half the free specimen length.
