The control has a hydraulic system moving the tool to and fro and containing a modulating device for the volume of the expansion system. The modulating device has a control element and device driven by a cam to displace the control element as the tool moves to and fro. The modulating device (18-22) is connected to the machine's frame. The cam (16) is connected to the piston (2) of the hydraulic system and is located between an end-stop (17) connected to the hydraulic system's cylinder (1) and the moving control element (22) of the modulating device. The latter contains an electronic scanner producing a modulated signal passed to an adaptor that produces a control signal for a comparator. The latter compares it with a signal describing the position of the rod (9) and generates an error signal for the hydraulic system.
