Heat insulation rope - has core of ceramic fibres and sheath of glass fibres

A heat insulation rope has a core of ceramic fibres and a sheath of glass fibres. The rope has a high temp. resistance, and a price comparable with ropes based on asbestos. The rope is used for insulating joints, e.g. on pyrolysis cookers. The core ribbon may be obtd. by cutting ceramic fibre sheets or webs, pref. sheets which have also been needled with ceramic fibre. The cut ribbons are pressed together by the glass fibre sheathing. This method avoids the costly steps of carding and spinning the ceramic fibre, which would greatly increase the cost of the finished rope.
