The climbing rope (KS) has a rope sheath braided from multiple sheath threads, where the rope sheath surrounds a rope core, which consists of multiple core threads. The number of interwoven threads of the rope sheath is increased in a rope portion (SA1) of the rope compared to the number of interwoven threads in another rope section (SA2). The sheath threads are guided in the rope portions and in the rope core. The sheath threads running continuously in the rope sheath are provided with a different coloring than the sheath threads partially extending from the rope sheath.
