The enhancer comprises a first switching device which comprises a transmitter table (51A) grouping N light transmitters where each is associated with an input transmitter link (LEE) and a receiver table (52A) grouping P light receivers each associated with a receiver output link (LRS). A second switching device comprises a transmitter table (53A) grouping P light transmitters each associated with an output transmitter link (LES) and a receiver table (54A) grouping N light receiver each associated with an output receiver (LRS). Each of the members of one table of each device comprises a composite member of an arrangement of elementary optical cells, electro-optical or opto-electronic at least equal in number to the members of the other table, and optical connectors joining the composite organ to the other table of each device. Each one of the elementary cells of the composite member is connected to the link associated with the composite member.
