The baler has a two-part casing with one part fixed to a towed chassis and the other pivoted to it to permit the formed bale to be removed. A horizontal conveyor is mounted at the base of the casing, downstream of the gathering elements. The conveyor is made up of a pair of parallel endless chains with transverse bars between them. The forage directed into the casing is rotated by two devices, one mounted on each part of the casing. Each device is in the form of a pair of endless chains. The three chain drives define a triangular chamber between them in which the cylindrical bale is formed.
