PURPOSE:To automatically resume the normal operation of electrostatic coating by automatically detecting bridging phenomenon occurring in electrostatic coating and destructing such bridges. CONSTITUTION:In the process of an electrostatic coating for a member 2 to be coated by use of the electrostatic coating machine 1, a bridge formation produced in the coating hose 9 causes the electrode 1a and the coating on/off valve 10 to be connected through conductive metal pigment present in the coating hose 9 and current is grounded through the on/off valve 10. The change in current is sensed by the high-voltage current detector 7, and the high-voltage interlock circuit 8 acts to stop current supply to the high-voltage generator 4. After several seconds from the disappearance of the formed bridge, the high-voltage interlock contact 6 automatically resets thereby to continue normal electrostatic coating operation.
