PURPOSE:To produce a large amt. of thin strip which is uniform in a width direction easily and stably, by inclining the clearance between a roll and a nozzle vertically so as to minimize the deviation in the broadside thickness from the thickness distribution obtained by measurement of the thickness at =2 points in the width direction. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal ejected from a nozzle 7 is cooled quickly on a rotary cooling roll 8 to solidify to a thin strip 9, which is taken up on a reel 13. Bearing boxes 14 support the roll 8 with the bearings therein, and are movable upward and downward independently on the right and left by means of cylinders 15 connected thereto. According to the deviations in the right and left thickness, the bearing boxes are movable respectively by DELTAS1, DELTAS2. Thickness gages consist of 12A, 12B which measure two points in the width direction of the plate; The values measured therewith are transmitted to an arithmetic controller 16, which operates the roll positions where the prescribed thickness is obtained and the deviation in the broadside thickness is minimized.
