PURPOSE:To detect the turning of a slewing stand properly by mounting a light receiver and a light emitter to the slewing stand so as to be integrally turned, setting up a cylindrical body for shielding light intermittently having transmitted light to a travelling base and displaying the angle of turning in an operation chamer by information from an operating lever and the number of light reception. CONSTITUTION:The light receiver 14 and the light emitter 13 are mounted to the outer circumferential edge of thd slewing stand 3 of a backhoe, etc. so as to be integrally turned, the cylindrical member 16 for shielding light with light transmitting holes 15 at proper intervals in the circumferential direction is fixed to a travelling base, and projecting light being accompanied by the turning of the slewing stand 3 is intermittently transmitted to the light receiver 14. The turning of the slewing stand 3 is light-received by means of the light receiver 14, the angle of turning is calculated by means of a count circuit 19, and the angles of left and right turning of the slewing stand 3 are decided by means of a device 21 by informations 18a, b from the operating lever 17, and displayed to a device 22 in the operation chamber.
