SURFACE COATING METHOD FOR COAL IN OPEN-AIR STORAGE

PURPOSE:To prevent the collapse and outflow of a heap of coal by localized torrential downpour and change in the moisture of the coal, by sprinkling and coating the heap of the coal with an aqueous solution of finely pulverized cement prepared by melting the cement at a high temperature, solidifying the melt, finely pulverizing the solid, allowing the coated heap for several hours, and applying an aqueous solution of a resin to the heap. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of an alumina cement prepared by melting the cement at a high temperature of 1,800 deg.C, solidifying the melt, and finely pulverizing the solid, preferably in a concentration of 15-30wt%, is sprinkled and applied to a heap of a coal to form a coating layer of preferably 0.4-2.0mm. thickness, and the coated heap is allowed to stand for 5hr or longer. An aqueous solution of a resin, preferably vinyl acetare resin, acrylic resin, etc. in a concentration of 10-50wt%, is applied to the cement coating film to give a coating thickness of preferably 0.6-2.4mm.. EFFECT:Stabilized coke quality and improved productivity.
