CONSTITUTION:The representative bacterial strain of the astaxanthin-producing bacteria belonging to Phaffia rhodozyma genus, is described in the Catalogue of strains 14th Ed. 1980 as ATCC 24202. Astaxanthin is accumulated in the cell by the aerobic cultivation of the bacteria. The cultivation liquid can be used as it is, or after concentration or separation and precipitation. The product is preferably coated with a coating agent such as gelatin, beef tallow, etc., mixed with an antioxidant such as BHT, and added to a general assorted feed in an amount of 3-50%.
