At this time, the zone beta is kept at a prescribed desorption temp. with a heat exchanger H and cooler K. When SO2 in the circulating desorbing gas reaches a prescribed concn., the gas is introduced into lines 5, 6 in 2:1 ratio. After almost thoroughly reducing SO2 in the gas in the line 5 with a reducing furnace gamma, the gas is mixed with the gas in the line 6 and introduced into a condenser xsi, where moisture in the mixed gas is condensed and a halogen contg. substance is dissolved in the condensate and discharged from a line 10. The resulting gas is introduced into a Claus furnace delta and reacted to recover S from a line 7. The remaining gas is fed to an incinerator epsilon.
