1528154 Builder compositions PROCTER & GAMBLE Ltd 13 Feb 1976 [14 Feb 1975] 6357/75 Heading C5D A detergent builder composition comprises water-soluble alkali metal phosphates comprising a pyrophosphate, a tripoly- or higher phosphate and, optionally, an orthophosphate, the proportion of tripoly- or higher phosphate being from 1 to 15% and the proportion of orthophosphate, if present, less than 1% by weight of the total alkali-metal phosphates. Detergent compositions may comprise 1 to 50% by weight of a non-cationic detergent and from 5 to 60% by weight of the builder. The detergent may be an alkali metal or ammonium alkyl ether sulphate, alkyl sulphate, alkyl benzene sulphonite or a salt of an α-sulphocarboxylic acid. The detergent compositions may contain alkali metal silicates, carbonates, bicarbonates, sesquicarbonates, borates, chlorides, perborates, sulphates, bisulphates or aluminates, calcium carbonate, a clay or synthetic water-insoluble hydrated aluminosilicates of formula wherein z and y are at least 6; z :y is 1À0 to 0À5 and x is 15 to 264, or a water insoluble aluminosilicate of formula Na x [xAlO 2 .ySiO 2 ) where x is 1 to 1À2 and y is 1. The compositions may be in the form of spraydried powder.
