1448937 Curable resin solutions MONSANTO CO 8 April 1974 [9 April 1973 (2)] 15509/74 Heading C3P Resin solutions in organic solvents, which cure to form pressure sensitive adhesive films, comprise (1) an interpolymer containing (a) 0À5-20 wt. per cent of at least one monomer containing a hydroxyl, carboxyl or enolizable keto group, (b) at least one monomer which is an ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid and which contains 6-20 carbon atoms, and optionally (c) a further monomer selected from C 2-10 alphaolefins, C 3-10 vinyl alkanoates, ethyl or methyl acrylate or methacrylate, acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile, styrene or vinyl chloride; and (2) a chelate ester of formula wherein n is 2 or 3; R 1 is C 2-10 alkyl, alkenyl, substituted alkyl or substituted alkenyl; R 3 is C 1-6 alkyl or alkenyl or C 6-10 aryl; R 4 is hydrogen or C 1-6 alkyl or alkenyl; and R 2 and R 3 may be combined as an ethylene or trimethylene group. Examples are given in which the interpolymer is derived from the following monomers: (a) acrylic acid, 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate or methacrylate, 3-hydroxypropyl acrylate or bis-(2-hydroxyethyl)fumarate; (b) isobutyl acrylate or 2-ethylhexyl acrylate; and (c) methyl acrylate, acrylonitrile, vinyl acetate or vinyl chloride; and in which the chelate ester is one in which n is 2 or 3, R 1 is isopropyl, butyl or octyl, and the chelate-forming compound is acetyl acetone, benzoyl acetone, ethyl acetoacetate or 1,3-cyclohexanedione.
