Method of joining two elements, of which the one element 2 has an essentially cylindrical inner envelope surface, located in an enclosing relationship to an essentially cylindrical outer envelope surface of the second element 1, and an arrangement for carrying out the method, involving the use of at least one expandable tubular part 4, arranged to enclose an explosive charge 5, and an expandable shell 3 arranged to surround said expandable tubular part 4, which last-mentioned part 4 also contains through-going holes or channels 6, 6', communicating with the internal portion of the expandable shell 3. By the action of an initiating element, said explosive charge 5 is triggered, thereby expanding and surrounding the tubular part 4 and also expanding the expandable shell 3, which is pressed against oppositely directed surfaces of the elements 1, 2. In the position thus adopted and joining the elements 1, 2, the tubular part 4 lies against at least the internal surfaces of the expandable shell 3 which are opposite the contact surfaces of said shell 3 with regard to the elements 1, 2, thereby serving as a support element, which prevents recoil or back deformation of said contact surfaces.
