'EXHAUST GAS CONDUCTION SYSTEM BETWEEN AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE OF SEVERAL CYLINDERS, SUPPLIED ACCORDING TO THE PRINCIPLE OF DYNAMIC PRESSURE, AND AN EXHAUST GAS TURBOS FEEDER'.
In the case of an exhaust piping system between a multiple-cylinder internal combustion engine supercharged on the back pressure principle and an exhaust turbocharger the energy supply at the turbine is to be increased by suitable measures and the partial load behaviour of the internal combustion engine improved. To this end exhaust gas outlets on the cylinder head side of the internal combustion engine are improved. To this end curved connecting ducts (1) branching off the cylinder head side exhaust gas outlets of the internal combustion engine are provided, which each comprise a curved section (4) emerging from the cylinder head side, each of which continues in the form of a diffusor (5). The latter at the same time widens to the diameter DAL of the exhaust manifold (3) connected to the turbine of the exhaust turbocharger and opens into the latter at an angle of approximately 45 DEG and with a circular, oval or similar cross-section. In addition each diffusor (5) on its pressure side has a section (8) running in a straight line into the exhaust manifold (3). The diameter BAL of the exhaust manifold (3) obeys the following equation, that is IMAGE VH designating the swept volume of an engine cylinder where i is their number and IAL the length of the exhaust manifold. The transition from the latter to the turbine inlet (2) is designed as a double diffusor (9).
