SAFETY CONTROL FOR RIDING LAWN MOWERABSTRACT OF DISCLOSUREIn a power-driven riding lawn mower, a safety controlis provided for automatically disengaging and stopping the cut-ting blade when the operator leaves the lawn mower or raises hisfeet while seated on the lawn mower. The control is operatedthrough a foot bar engageable by the operator's feet to permitthe cutting blade to rotate during a cutting operation but whenthe operator raises his feet from the foot bar or dismounts fromthe mower, the control will activate mechanisms for disengagingthe drive and applying a positive brake to the cutting blade.While the control will permit the operator to manually disengagethe drive and apply a brake to the cutting blade while the footbar is depressed by the operator's feet, the control will notpermit the operator to reengage the drive while the foot bar isdepressed.
