An oxazoline deriv. of formula (I) is prepd. by reacting compds. of formula (II) with compds. of formula (III) in an inactive organic solvent, then applying ultraviolet rays. In the formulas, R1 and R2 are H, halogen, or lower alkyl; R3,R4,R5,R6 and R7 are H or lower alkyl; and R8 is H, lower alkyl, or formyl. (I) is an orally active antidiabetic agent.
