In order to increase the possibilities of design in the wood-carving craft, a procedure is envisaged in which woods of different grain and/or natural coloration are fixedly connected to each other in a predetermined manner so that, before or after working by cutting or other wood-carving techniques, the different colorations of the various woods and/or the different grains or the different grain pattern of the woods take effect as a design element in the finished carving.
