Starter circuit module for discharge and fluorescent lamp - uses thyristor circuit synchronised to mains by break over circuit to discharge capacitor into primary of HV transformer
The circuit is formed from two terminal module (10) which is connected in parallel with the lamp (1) and includes (1) a series circuit, connecting the two terminals (11,12) of the module, made up of a capacitor (C1), the secondary (13) of an impulse transformer (16). A diode (D1) is connected to ensure the charging of the capacitor by rectifying the alternating supply (2). A controlled interrupter circuit discharges the capacitor (C1) into the primary (15) of the pulse transformer (16) such that a high voltage pulse is applied to the lamp (1). The interrupter is in the form of a thyristor (Th), controlled through a pulse transformer (18) by a diac (20) break over circuit connected to the module terminals so that an impulse is delivered on each positive half cycle of the ac supply.
