Single electrode cardiac stimulator - has electronic circuit receiving detection pulse and emitting stimulation pulse after delay much less than heart de-polarisation time
A pulse emitted by the heart with a potential variation of at least one millivolt is detected with certainty, directly and immediately, even if it occurs shortly after a stimulation pulse. An electrode applies the stimulation pulses generated by the electronic circuit and transmits to the electronic circuit the pulses emitted by the heart. The electronic circuit can detect a pulse emitted by the heart after a time delay following a stimulation pulse. This time delay is at most equal to the heart depolarisation delay after an efficient stimulation pulse and is preferably much shorter than this delay. The part of the electrode which contacts the heart is made of vitreous carbon. Normally, the delay is of the order of 50 milliseconds.
