Shoe or sandal made using two polymer mouldings - where moulded upper is located in recess in upper surface of moulded sole

A first polymer (a) is moulded to form the sole and heel of a shoe, e.g. a shoe for women. Moulding (a) has a recess extending along its top surface; and the depth of the recess is increased in the heel. The recess in the sole part of moulding (a) is used to locate the base of a second moulding (b) made of another polymer; and moulding (b) forms the upper, esp. the tubular upper of a slip-on, toeless shoe. Polymer (a) is pref. more rigid, and more resistant to wear than polymer (b); and the two materials (a,b) pref. have different colours. The overall result is the simple and inexpensive mfr. of a casual, comfortable shoe or sandal.
