A human is provided with a flexible harness, which includes a belt and is located on top of clothing or an inner overall (a); an external overall (b) is then placed over the harness so an air cavity is formed between the two layers (a,b). The harness is permeable, and contains flexible perforated tubes which are fed with a pressurised fluid filling the cavity between the two overalls (a,b). The flexible tubes are pref. made of a synthetic material; and are fed with a pressurised gas from a reservoir using a valve and an alarm which is triggered if the flow of pressurised gas is interrupted. An electric circuit is pref. used to trigger an acoustic alarm. In use for example, the gas filling the space between overalls (a,b) can contain a bactericide when a human is working in an atmos. which is toxic.
