PURPOSE:To improve the fluidity of castable refractories for casting contg. magnesia and carbon by adding proper amts. of water and hydrophilic org. material to castable refractories, mulling the mixture then adding an anionic surfactant to the mixture. CONSTITUTION:A proper amt. of water is added to castable refractories for casting contg. magnesia and carbon then hydrophilic org. materials contg. =1 kind among hydroxyl groups, amino groups and carbonyl groups (saccharides, dextrin, polyvinyl pyrolidone, etc.) are added at 0.1-3.0wt% in outer percentage to said refractories and the mixture is thoroughly mulled. The carbon and magnesia are enclosed with the hydrophilic org. materials and are protected with the interface once. An anionic surfactant such as carboxylate, salt of sulfate or the like is added at 0.01-5.0% in outer percentage to the castable refractories to deflocculate and fluidize the refractories. The casting is accomplished without the aid of mechanical force vibration by using such refractories.
