PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure a minute amount of a chlorine ion concn. by performing the measurement of the cholorine ion concn. due to a reference reagent having a known concn. in succession to a sample when the concn. of the sample is equal to or less than the detection sensitivity of a measuring apparatus. CONSTITUTION:When it is impossible to measure the concn. of a sample because it is minute enough to be equal to or less than the detection sensitivity of a measuring apparatus, measurement due to a reference reagent having a known concn. is performed in succession to the measurement of the sample and the known concn. value of the reference reagent is subtracted from the sum measured value of the sample and the reference reagent. For example, when the concn. of a sample A is minute enough to be displayed as 0mmol/l as the result of the concn. measurement thereof, measurement is succeedingly performed with the reference reagent (the known concn. is 100mmol/l) and, if the display thereof is 110mmol/l, the chlorine concn. of the sample A is judged as 10mmol/l from calculation formula (110-100=10).
