PURPOSE:To enable desired mercury quantity to be accurtely measured by providing a recess of a specific shape and size on the outside surface of the stem of a revolving rotor and measuring and extracting mercury. CONSTITUTION:When a circular cylindrical rotor 7 revolves in the main unit 1 of the measuring instrument provided with a mercury containing chamber 3 in the upper part and a falling hole 4 in the lower part, one side of the length a in the axial direction of the rotor of a recess 8 tries to cut apart part of the mercury 2 in the containing chamber 3 at the time when the recess 8 formed in the rotor 7 passes the position opposing to the mercury containing chamber 3. Since the length (b) in the circumferential direction of the recess 8 is provided in the relation of a = b with respect to the length a in the axial direction, part of the mercury in the containing chamber 3 may be readily cut apart, thus accurate measuring may be accomplished.
