PURPOSE:To automatically and continuously measure the concentration of distilled alcohol by utilizing a combination of an oscillatory densimeter and a flowmeter. CONSTITUTION:Distilled alcohol is sampled in a pipe 3, and bubbles, imprities and viscous matter are removed from the alcohol. The resulting alcohol flows through a pipe 8, a change-over valve 9, a pipe 11, a flowmeter 12 and an oscillatory densimeter 13 in the mentioned order. The concentration of the alcohol is detected by a densitometer 51 with reference to outputs from the flowmeter 11 and densimeter 13. The detected concentration of the alcohol is converted into an electric signal and input into a control unit 52. When the concentration is in excess of a predetermined level, the control unit 52 allows the alcohol to flow through a passage 14 and a passage 18 to be measured and set as products. When the concentration is below a predetermined level, a distiller 1 is stopped by the control unit 52, and the change- over valve 15 is operated to drain the sample liquid. The change-over valve 15 is then shifted to release a stop valve 30. As a result, washing water flows into measuring instruments to flush the same. Compressed air is then introduced into the measuring instruments to air-purge the same.
