Measuring dimensions on drawing of e.g. building - using by graduated rule with resistance wire to which tracer stylus is applied

A portable carrier (2) is placed on the drawing whose dimensions are to be measured and a stylus is applied at points on a measurement zone (5). The points are aligned to one or more extremity(ies) of the quantity being measured. The stylus, by its application, registers data which may be stored or printed out. Pref. the equipment comprises a carrier in the form of a graduated rule with markings and a resistance wire to which a battery is connected at its zero point (3). A resistance meter and an electrically conductive tracer stylus (4) with insulated handle which is connected to the meter through a flexible wire complete a measurement circuit. The magnitude of the output signal of the resistance meter corresponds to the length of that part of the resistance wire which lies between the zero point and the contact point of the tracer stylus.
