A process for the preparation of an active hydrocarbon solid usable for polymerizing olefins.; This method comprises forming a powder mass by mixing a transition metal component, a solid organic or inorganic porous support and an organometallic compound of the organo-A1 type organo-Mg or organo-Zn, and polymerizing in the gas phase a controlled amount of one or more olefins in the C2 to C12 in contact with the powdery mass with a specific schedule olefin conversion to produce the active hydrocarbon solid.; Said active solid hydrocarbon is used, alone or combined with an organometallic cocatalyst, such as catalyst system for olefin polymerization by operating in the gaseous phase.
