Process includes hot rolling, cold rolling with intermediate annealing, and final texture annealing. The improvement comprises making the steel serrated after texture annealing. Work of making serrations is pref. carried out in a direction perpendicular to the (001) crystal direction. The serrations are pref. 0.05 - 0.005 mm deep, 0.25 - 0.0025 mm wide, and are at intervals of 5 - 12.7 mm. The steel is used in the manufg. of transformer cores. The reduced core loss is enhanced if serration is combined with stressing.
